Concordia University is pleased to have been selected as a site for one of the Canadian Football League’s three regional combines this month.
The one-day invitational combines are for players eligible for the 2014 CFL Draft. The top players from each combine could receive an invite to attend the national CFL Combine in Toronto from March 21-23.
The regional combines may also include non-import free agents and import free agents who play in the CIS. These players are not eligible for the draft and therefore cannot receive an invitation to the national CFL Combine.
Each regional combine will invite approximately 40 football players. In fact, the Montreal combine will take place Wednesday, March 19 and has 43 players on its list, including seven members of the Stingers.
The players will have measurements taken, do several tests and finish with position-specific drills. These will take place in the Concordia gym, weight room and the Stinger Dome.
The Concordia football players are:
LB Travis Bent, Ajax, Ont.
LB Alexandre Lemire, Otterburn Park, Que.
LB/DE Eric Noivo, Kirkland, Que.
DT Shaquille Armstrong,Winnipeg
DE Jonathan Langma, Mississauga, Ont.
C Frederik Landry-Simard, Berthier-sur-Mer, Que.
SB Michael Harrington, LaSalle, Que.
In 2013, Concordia returner/defensive back Kris Robertson was selected from the eastern regional combine to attend the national event in Toronto. He was then picked in the second round of the CFL draft, 11th overall, by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
