Stingers named to East-West Bowl rosters

Three members of the Concordia Stingers football team will participate in the 12th annual East West Bowl, an all-star showcase on May 10 at TD Stadium at Western University in London, Ont.

The East West Bowl is designed to feature CIS players who will be eligible for the 2015 CFL draft.

Receivers Jamal Henry and Shayne Stinson will play for the East team, while kicker Keegan Treloar will suit up for the West.

In 2013 Henry, a third-year slotback from St. Constant, Que., caught 23 passes for 346 yards and five touchdowns in seven games. 

Stinson, a third-year wide receiver, made 32 receptions for 363 yards and a touchdown in eight games. The Brossard Que. native also saw duty as a returner taking back 25 punt returns for 328 yards and 11 kick returns for 182 yards. He rolled up 875 all-purpose yards on the season which was the sixth best total in the RSEQ.

In 2013, Treloar of Brandon, Man. connected on 11 of 14 fields goals, including a 50-yarder. He was also good on 14 of 16 PATs. The third-year man also handled kickoffs for the Stingers, averaging 51.2 yards

The East side is comprised of student-athletes representing schools from the AUS and RSEQ conferences, as well as Carleton, Ottawa, Queen’s and Toronto. The West contingent is made up of players from Canada West and the remaining OUA universities.

In addition to the game itself, the week-long showcase includes daily practices, a combine for participating players (May 6), a free agent combine for players not participating in the game  (May 7), a coaches clinic featuring presentations by CFL coaches and CIS mentors (May 9-10), a banquet (May 9), as well as the inaugural CIS 7-on-7 passing tournament (May 10).
