Football introduces new commits including transfer Ezechiel Tieide

Head coach Brad Collinson is pleased to announce the first group of commits to the Concordia Stingers 2023 football recruiting class, and leading the way is receiver Ezechiel Tieide, an elite Quebec talent who is returning home after playing for Boston College and the University of Toledo.

A Lachine, Que. native, Tieide was a much-sought after prospect after enjoying great success at École Secondaire Dalbé-Viau, where he was named Male Athlete of the Year in 2015, and subsequently at St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H. He also won back-to-back gold medals at Canada Cup as a quarterback with Team Québec in 2015 and 2016.

The versatile athlete went to Boston College as a defensive back in 2018 and was red-shirted his first year. In 2020, he moved to wide receiver and played 12 games over two seasons before transferring to Toledo for the 2022 season. He suited up for seven games last year.

Toledo was the Mid-American Conference champion and won the ninth annual Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 20, defeating Liberty University 21-19.

“We are happy to have Ezechiel join our program,” said Collinson. “He will bring experience and leadership to our team.”

A second accomplished student-athlete, offensive lineman Nicholas Taddio, is also transferring to Concordia.

He was a member of the 2019 Bol d’Or champion John Abbott Islanders and committed to the Guelph Gryphons in 2021. He started as a freshman at Guelph. Taddio returned home to Montreal and sat out the 2022 season.

“We are excited to have Nicholas join our offensive line,” said Collinson of his new six-foot-four, 300-pound lineman. “He is a smart, physical player that will bring toughness to the group.”

Taddio developed his skills in North Shore Football League system and was a standout with the midget Mustangs before joining the Islanders.

The first group of commits features a strong group of offensive players, including: running back Xavier Girard from Cégep de Lévis; receiver Oriola Poirier Shote, a 2022 all-star from Collège Ahuntsic; Jorvany Jean-Charles, a 2022 all-star offensive lineman from Collège Montmorency; receiver Angelo Nimaga from Cégep Édouard-Montpetit and receiver Noah Sassi, a 2022 all-star from Champlain College, St. Lambert.

The Stingers are also pleased to announce their first two defensive players in the class of 2023. Defensive back Jules Forand from John Abbott and linebacker Rahyan-Elis Prophète from Vanier College will continue their football journey at Concordia.
